Don't buy a semi off Persimmon, I think the walls are made of Lego they let so much sound through. NHBC's solution - Take 3 random pieces of plaster off and if the brickwork is up to standard there then it's fine...no sound testing nothing. Maybe it's (N)ever (H)ave (B)een (C)oncerned !!0

I have a number of friends who moved to a persimmon home during 2003 and have all now given up on the snagging, or paid to have other buidlers do the correct job. i think you'll be lucky if you ever see any one from persimmon again. after the site near us was finished the left and have never been back. i would never buy a home from themwebmasterpolo wrote:Hi I bought an excellent snag list from snagging.org, and I completed it, over 280 snags, some very serious.
It is now 18th February 2006 and I am still chasing them daily to finish the work to complete the snags.
They are becoming increasing difficult now refusing to come and do the work at the weekends, even though they also declined my offer in September that I would make myself available at home every day to allow them to complete the work during the week.
Currently I have plumbing problems reported on the 30th August 2005.
A very unhappy Persimmon customer

Hi, I too had a problem with a new house a few years back, it was one of the double glazed windows misting up between the panels of glass. I contacted NHBC and was informe that any problems should be notified in the first year or they couldn't deal with it. The problem was in the spare bedroom so it probably was there the first year and we hadn't noticed it. I agree with redonred the insurance with NHBC is a load of c**p.RedOnRed wrote:I think a lot of people have found th NHBC to not be worth the paper they're written on when dealing with them.0 -
NHBA
I had a problem with garage and flooding and drainage etc.
Builder decided there was nothing further they could or would do so invited me to go to NHBA
Inspector came and quickly assessed problems and gave them a notice and period of time to correct. I was impressed with efficiency and I would still have faith in NHBCBaby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
Hmm mixed msgs on the NHBC then. I think the situation was that in the first 2 yrs I have to go through the builder, but I guess it is worth a shot talking to the NHBC if I don't get anywhere.
I like the idea of getting a roofer in to give a quote to repair, therefore it won't cost me money and I will have some evidence to give Persimmon. I will look into this one, thanks for that.
