HSA premium increase

Options
HSA sent me a letter today saying they're increasing their premiums in return for increasing the level of benefits claimable under their policy. It just seems like giving with one hand and taking from the other. My premium is going to go up by 10.5% at a time when inflation is historically low. Time to quit HSA methinks.

When my policy was due and again a couple of months later (app at renewal again!!???) they increased the premium and reduced the % payable from something like 70% to 50%!!!!

This was the dental plan - Needless to say I cancelled!!

if this is a PMI policy then you're with the wrong company anyway, if dental/optical/cash plan then are you saying they are increasing the benefits for increased costs??? do you mean reduced benefits? (btw HSA, like all medical insurance policies - maybe apart from PruHealth - will always go up year on year regardless of claims)

  • Yep,mine went up to £50 per month (dental)! I cancelled.
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)
  • yes but two increases in a year in double figure percentage in total and a slashing of benefits, its just ridiculous.I had a claim rejected today because Ive exceeded the £100 for dental maintenance in a year, although until january it was £150,so although the previous claims were before the changes came into force they say it affects my claim year which started last march,I rang to queery this and I have never heard such a squirming legal statement in all my life, they are quick to point out that the hsa is on a rolling one month cover basis changeable with 30 days notice, teh claim year it seems is only to be used to penalise customers not to afford you any benefit, but they did helpfully point out I could always leave. They also claimed they were very competetive,I challeneged them on this and they were not prepared to comment on the prices and cover offered by any rival companies, this company really should take a reality check. They arent competetive anymore, they have hiked premiums, they have slashed cover ,they dont have straight answers to questions other than pre prepared statements(perhaps a little unfair, they may be so used to people complaing lately that they know all the answers.needless to say I cancelled my £20 a month and went to tesco, similiar cover for a lot less, even if you factor in the no claims bit,its still worth switching.
    Im the Johnson now
