IMO, 16 is too young for Rolex but I suppose that depends on your personal circumstances - the Submariner is a timeless classic which has proven to not actually be too bad an investment over the 55 years it's been produced.

A Tag may not be a bad choice but even then, I think the newer models are aimed at a non-casual market (rather than a typical 16 year old). It's a shame Tag still don't make the old all-rubber Formula One (a design classic IMO).

As other's have mentioned, it all depends on budget and also when it's going to be worn and whether it's expected to last a lifetime. Taste's change (especially for a 16 year old).

  • Omega are indeed cool. I like the Speedmaster (model 3523.80 - google it). But it's personal choice with watches isn't it? Take him shopping!

By the way, Bourne doesn't wear an Omega, he wears a TAG Link watch, CT1111 original version.

My girlfriend wanted to get me a watch couple of months ago and settled on: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rotary-Gents-Strap-Watch-GS02383-28/dp/B000PJ2L8K/

I convinced her to let me select a watch from her budget otherwise as others have said above would have been unused and would have probably joined the three other watches people had bought me and I had not worn.
