My Windows OneCare has run out, they don't sell it at PC world any more. You can renew online but its more expensive:rolleyes:
I looked at PC world & saw this
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0218054260.1235816695@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfkadegikdgjedcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=070387&category_oid=-27693
I liked OneCare because it was a simple all-in-one product.
I have an external hard drive (buffalo) & I think that OneCare did an automatic back up to this. I like something that I can set to run & take care of itself & I like an all in one.
I'm with AOL BB, in case that matters.
One thing thats always puzzelled me is..........all these suites come with a fire wall, BUT windows has its own firewall, why do people need two?
Should should I buy the McAfee? or is there something more suited (thats an all-in-one product)?
Thank you

Don't touch McAfee - it is not as good as it once was.
If you insist on paying then you really have two choices;
Kaspersky - available at PC World - reserve on line and pick up
or
NOD32 - available for download online
Both of these are very good products and have good reputations.0 -
I use the Kaspersky security suite and it gets my vote.
No problems at all.0 -
You can get individual free solutions but if you want a all in one, as above, Kaspersky or Eset Smart Secuirty(NOD32) is what I would use.
I personally use ESS as I got it cheap with multi user licence but you can get Kaspersky free if you have a Barclays account online.
Macfee I would not recommend but if you have a HSBC account you can get it free online.
Kaspersky can be found cheap over the net.

Thats cheap:beer:
Does that one back up my files to the external harddrive once a week too, do you know?
I can't find it mentioned in the description, but maybe its a silly question & they all do it?0 -

Can I ask what you mean by this?
I wasn't aware there were any all-in-one automatic suites available for free?0 -

Is it only windows OneCare that has this then?0 -
Perhaps this is why PC world have stopped doing it.....................
In a very surprising move, Microsoft has announced today that Windows Live OneCare customers will be getting the shaft next year. The software giant has decided to replace OneCare with a free security solution (codenamed "Morro") to be released in the second half of next year. The yet-to-be-announced product will be a realtime anti-malware protection solution, whereas OneCare offered that plus backup and management features. Sales of the Windows Live OneCare subscription service as well as Windows Live OneCare for Server on SBS 2008 will end on June 30, 2009.
If your subscription is about to run out, I'd suggest looking for an alternative instead of renewing a product that is on its way out the door. Sure, OneCare will continue to be available online until Morro is available and your subscription will still work until it ends, but Microsoft's decision makes the company look unreliable.0 -
One Care is AWFUL as a security suite. You really should go with Kaspersky or similar:idea:0
