i would like to know what the place itself is like , are there any historic places we can visit ...we are not ones for staying round the pool all day .....we like to go out and about >>see somewhere of the place we are in .. Anything really

Do you mean Cala n Blanes? Doesn't really matter because it is lovely. The whole island is full of history and quite pretty. It is easy to drive around so pick up a car from the airport and just go. There is a gorgeous fish restaurant in a place called Punta Prima, it overlooks the sea and the chef is a master.
I think you could find something interesting to do every single day you are there.
Be aware that the island is generally quite windy and a lot of people do get burnt because you feel lovely and cool due to the breeze but you are really burning to a crisp.
Enjoy it as it is lovely.

Was about 14 years since we went and kids were only toddlers, so didn't do too much sightseeing. You are close to ciutadella which is the old capital. Try looking on trip advisor for more info.
