I wouldn't know where to begin with a slow cooker :rotfl:
do you just turn it on in the morning and leave it? I'd be a bit worried about that, being out all day and it on.. does it not munch up electricity? (I'm on a stinge-drive atm, much to the OH's grumbles, turning lights off behind him when he leaves rooms etc :D )

I have an OH just like that but he prefers me to use the slow cooker after he worked it all out against the cost of using the hob/oven.....most of them use the same power as a lightbulb but because the pots seal themselves they use nearly all the heat they produce, very economical and incredibly easy to use......tasty too :p

Has anyone without a slow cooker seen THIS comp?

I wouldn't be without mine, it makes a cheap old brisket joint cut like butter.

TBH I don't know about how much it costs to run, maybe I should

But that lot above, I literally cut up at 8am this morning and just bunged it all in on top of each other poured on the stock switched in on and left it. It's so easy Gemma, and fantastic if you're at work all day and want to come home to a dinner that's ready :D

That's the thing, it pays for itself. It takes hardly any effort and is cheaper than ready meals and actually quicker as when you come home instead of having to heat the meal, your healthy, home-cooked, slow-cooked meal is ready and waiting.

Plus, I was spending £3.20 a pop on bowls of Scouse at my local cafe (it's a beef, potato and veg stew basically) and I can make it so much cheaper without leaving the house.

It already looks and smells gorgeous, and has only been on for 2 hours so far. It means I have approx 4 hearty meals sorted. :D
