Camping in Northumberland or Scotland

Hi, would like some help with campsites in Northumberland or Scotland.
I'm looking to go camping in the summer with hubbie and our boys aged 3 and 5. We don't drive so would like a site that is accessible by public transport. We live in the north east so can get a train to the main town and then a bus or taxi to the site.
Would ideally like a camp that is family friendly with a small play area for the boys and close to local attractions.
Have looked at Mortonhall which is in Edinburgh, it seems to tick all the boxes - just wondered if anyone can recommend this or any others.
Thanks in advance, Clare.
