Why would a lender require this information? Troll is being disingenuous to use words like 'co-operate' and 'amicably' in this context.
The ONLY reason they want this information is to make their enforcement procedures easier if things go 'pear-shaped'. Employers name & address? Easier to enforce an attachment of earnings. Car type and registration number? To pass on to bailiffs. Employers' telephone numbers? So they can make harassing telephone calls to your work address.
Treat any request for such information with deep suspicion and refuse.0 -
but could the form just be a 'standard' form that would be applicable to a joint account but asks questions that are irrelevant to a sole account?2014 Target;

I don't think so. They know exactly what they're doing.0

Hi, this is my first post on here. Due to going over my overdraft limit several times i've racked up over £800 charges plus interest in the last year which is crippling me financially, the bank just says it's in accordance with terms and conditions etc., and states that they've refunded about £50 charges somewhere along the line which is pretty insignificant though just about better than nothing.
All my emails and branch visits have come to nothing. I have several defaults and can't get credit or a new bank account so consolidation is not possible, has anyone here managed to get significant charge refunds? how is the best way to do it? Who are Metropolitan? I can't default on my charges as it just gets added on and puts me deeper in debt. I'm so glad to see a forum with other people in similar situations (though obviously I'm not glad about your debt either!). Pete, Sheffield0 -

As harrassed says above visit the two links, plus have a look through the thread 'Bank charges - are they illegal' which you will find on the current accounts board.
As a direct consequence of the postings on the above mentioned thread made by dchurch24 I successfully received £1331.50 in relation to these unlawful charges.
Please take the time to read through the thread, it is 70 odd pages long, and visit the links mentioned, as you will get a result.
Best of luck!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -

Nice one and well done. 10 out of 10 for persistence.0 -
Thanks for your replies, excuse my ignorance but could i then go to a solicitor and say that i feel the bank have been in breach of contract and try to recover my charges that way?
It sounds like others have done this, unless i've got the wrong end of the stick; wouldn't a solicitor just say that there's nothing i or they can do and that it's automatically my fault that i went over my limit or the bank defend themselves and say the same if it did get to court?
From what i read, it seems that others have taken action and the bank has immediately settled (out of court presumably) without contesting.
Hope someone can clarify this for me. Pete0 -
