Hope someone can help with advice.
I am asking for a friend who is on DLA HRM and HRC. She is planning to have a new kitchen and bathroom and has been told she will not have to pay VAT on her bill. Is this info correct?
Thanks

I believe she can get various bits VAT free e.g. if her kitchen has items intended specifically for disabled people these can be VAT free, as will any work undertaken to adapt items specifically for her disability. Other than that I believe she has to pay the VAT.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Re the same person as previous post, would she be entitled to any sort of grants to help with the cost of replacing her kitchen and bathroom
Many thanks0 -
Does she need them adapted because she is disabled or does she just fancy a new kitchen? If the former then yes, I believe there are grants available as well as a discount on the council tax. I'm not an expert on how to get hold of them though LOLEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Thanks for your reply, I think both really, they are both dated but if she replaces them she will replace what she can to help make it easier for herself ie lever taps, higher oven, lower shower, grab rails and whatever else needs to done to make life a bit easier for her. She is over 70 and has just lost her husband who was her carer.
Many thanks for any help and advice0 -
Is she getting any help from Social Services? Has she seen an OT recently? If not then those should be your first ports of call.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Hi daska many thanks again for your reply. I am not sure if she has seen an OT for a while so as you say that might be where to start.
I will let her know asap
Thanks again0
