  • I bought 2 new bath sheets last week from Asda, organic cotton, reduced from £9 to £4 each. I washed and tumble dried them both before use and they are lovely and fluffy. A huge amount of fluff came out in the tumble drier though.

  • If you don't wash them you can't dry yourself - they aren't absorbant and we had the same experience as another poster when we decided to buy a beach towel on holiday - got covered in fluff - it was only any good for lying on.

    I prefer rougher towels to soft and fluffy too. Though in the winter I do dry them in the tumble dryer - without fabric softener. But give me a fresh line dried towel any day. You can smell the outside on the towel.
