I think its just to make sure they are clean. They will have been around a bit before you buy them- factory, paced, warehouse, transpoeted, shop, storage, shelves, floor, shelves, basket, boot of car.
Do you want to get dried on that????:eek:Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
Loving de-cluttering0 -
They will also have been flattened by being in boxes under hundreds of other towels etc. Washing them fluffs them up againmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Also, you don't know who's been messing around with them - especially if you get them from a supermarket.0

First to make sure they are clean, secondly to get off the little bits that come off! I was looking at some last week and the fluff that came off on my clothes was awful. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
You wash them to get out the dressing that keeps them flat for packaging. I always tumbel dry towels as it keeps them nice and fluffy.......and don't use Lenor etc on them as it stops them being absorbent. Nothing like a warm fluffy towel, one of life's little luxuries that cost little lol0

If it were me, I'd wash them on a cottons 40c, with just soda crystals as the 'detergent' and white vinegar as the softener.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Isn't there something too about washing them before use that helps increase the absorbency of the towels?
Personally, I don't like a fluffy towel, it just spreads the moisture about rather than drying me. Give me one that's been line dried any day0 -
We once bought a towel from a shop by the beach when our daughter decided to paddle when we had just gone out for a walk - when we dried out feet with it we all got covered in bits of fluff the colour of the towel..
So I'm guessing this is why you have to wash them first...0 -
It's to get rid of the dressing, otherwise you can't get dry!
I've bought some from Christy online, in their sale. Not sure if it's still on though.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
