Advice on insuring more than 1 car

Options
My husband and I own 4 cars (2 for social use - expensive cars, heavy on fuel and 2 for work / general use - more economic and practical) and would like advice on how best we can insure all 4. I have tried a couple of multi car policies but they are quoting me huge premiums. At the moment, we are insured on the 2 general use ones and have parked the 2 more expensive ones in the garage with no insurance but I'm constantly worried that something may happen to them even whilst just being parked in the garage.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You could try switching round so that the expensive to insure cars have the highest NCD.

Other than that 4 separate policies via Quidco (ie 4 separate cashbacks) might work out the cheapest option.

Or if insuring them is a problem because money is tight, why not reduce the fleet size till you can afford to insure them all.

It would be a false economy if one uninsured one got stolen!

I imagine the insurance would seem more affordable if you sold one of your houses.

Who's name are each of the cars insured in?
You can usually find an insurance co, to allow your NCD to be carried over to 1 other vehicle. So if you have one insured in your name, then carry your NCD over to another car, with your OH as a named driver, and vice versa for the other 2.

Obviously that will only work if you both have max NCD

You can also have the 2 larger cars insured for limited mileage, that usually brings the premium down.

As a rough guide could you indicate your ages, occupations and town where you live. And what are the cars?

Admiral do a multi-car policy. Primo Plc also do multi-car. There is a broker here that runs schemes including family fleets:
