    They rang me also. The guy wasn't pushy though. Once I said, I was just interested in the competition, he politely ended the conversation.

    Sorry to bump!!

    Received the following email today

    "You very kindly responded to our recent marketing campaign regarding investing in wine together with a competition to win a case Dom Perignon Champagne. I note that you did not provide a telephone number. I thoroughly respect your privacy but would be most grateful if you could let me know whether you have an interest in finding out more about investing in wine, or whether your interest ends with the competition."

    I have advised them that as they have not provided any T&C's for the prize draw they may be in breach of The British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing (known as 'the CAP Code') which sets out certain additional rules which should be followed when running prize promotions

    in addition to the general principles that advertising must be legal, decent, honest and truthful, the CAP Code requires that the following information is given to consumers before or at the time of entry into the prize promotion:
    • how to participate; if there is a free entry route, this must be clearly explained;
    • the start date;
    • the closing date in certain circumstances (eg if targeted at children);
    • any proof of purchase requirements – or, where a promotion encourages but does not require purchase, a clear statement that no purchase is necessary and explanation of the free entry alternative;
    • the minimum number and nature of any prizes, and whether a cash alternative can be substituted;
    • any geographical, personal or technological restrictions (eg location, age, or the need to have access to the internet);
    • any limit on the availability of promotional packs (if this is not obvious);
    • the promoter's full name and business address;
    • any restriction on the number of entries;
    • how and when winner(s) will be notified, and when they will receive their prizes if this is more than 6 weeks after the closing date;
    • how and when the results will be announced; winners' names must be published or available on request, but promoters must not publish excessively detailed personal information;
    • the criteria for judging entries eg the most apt and original tie breaker; if the choice is open to subjective interpretation, then an independent judge (or a panel including one independent member) must be appointed, whose name must be available on request;
    • who will own the copyright in the competition entries (if relevant);
    • how entries will be returned (if applicable); and
    • any intention to use winners in any post promotion publicity.
    Participants must be able to retain this information or have easy access to it throughout the promotion.

    In summary (at the time of writing this post)
    Albany Portfolio Management is not regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
    has no current working site online T&C's
    has no current working online Privacy Policy
    has no online Prize Draw T&C's

    My conclusion
    I'd sooner invest in Gordon Clown & Co :D

    apologies for whining on :beer: mines a beer :rolleyes:

    They rang me yesterday and as soon as he said it was a courtesy call I hung up :o

    Then he rang again today (from a different number) and i hung up again :o

    I then got a text saying:

    "You entered our competition for some champagne but we have been unable to get in touch. Please give me a contact number"

    So I was like OOPS maybe I have won a competition :o Cuz by the wording of the text I though i'd won. Was about to give him my house number but searched on here and found this so they were probably just trying to get me to invest :rolleyes:

    Though I should have read the op cuz it does say that oopsie lol. But thought they were going abit far by texting.
