    hi there,

yes, definitely apply for the cea card, it will save a fortune!! BUT, having been to the Empire at Sunderland, it was the only cinema that would not let me use the card to allow my daughter in with me (she is 11). Said it was against their policy to allow child entry with the card

Is there any way you could get to cineworld at Boldon, as I have had no problems there, and the staff are very helpful. I also now have the unlimited card, which costs £11.99 a month, which means i can go to the pictures (either with my daughter or my carer) as many times as i want:j

You will need to get a passport photo of yourself to apply for the card (it actually might be two) and you can download the application form from the website. It only took about 3 weeks to receive mine.

Best of luck with it, and enjoy the cinema!

ps. i am assuming that it is you who qualifies for dla, and not your son! If not, then please accept my apologies

Yes, you will pay for your DD and the card gets you in free as her carer.

as far as i can see, there is no age restriction on the card - the website just says that the person who receives dla is the person named on the card.

maybe best to give them a ring?

I think the whole idea of the cinema pass is so that your carer can accompany you for free. I hope you dont mind me saying this but if people use them to get their child in for free it may make the cinema think again about their disabled policies.

I am seriously not having a go at anyone, I hope it doesn't come across like I am. I'm just pointing this out.

For the op. Have you looked into the Orange Wednesday (you need an orange simcard) then I think it's bogof. Hth

in many cases though (like mine) my child is a young carer. I know what you are saying though - after my bad experience at the Empire, i actually emailed the other cinema, asking for their policy. After clarifying what my disability is, and how my daughter would be there in a caring capacity, they said that she would be fine. Maybe they have different policies for different people??

You know, you're absolutely right. I hadn't thought of it that way and I should have as my own daughter was doing a lot of care for me when she was just 9. I'd just automatically thought it meant adults.
