closed credit cards - but can still log online?

in Credit cards
Not sure if anyone has experienced this - over the past 2 years, I have closed credit card accounts with Barclays, Accucard, MBNA but I can still log online to access these accounts? I have called the companies 2 or 3 times and they always confirm that the account is closed. Shouldnt they close the online account as well?
Has anyone had this before?
Cheers.

I've had this with Barclaycard and RBS, checked with both and accounts were closed, but I'm still able to see my account details online. Don't know why though and as nobody knows my username/passwords, should I be worried? Can they be "hacked" into?Marsh Samphire0

I have two closed cards with MBNA, and they are marked as closed. You should have a button there to "Hide Inactive Accounts"Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Same here with Mint.
In a way, it can be a good thing. When card companies close a card, payments can sometimes still be taken from the card from things like CPAs if you've forgotten to cancel. By having online access you can look out for these. I log in once a month just to check that everything's in order.
Of course, it's possible that any new transactions may not even show up online, but it's worth checking anyway (1 minute of your time per month).0 -
Last week I phoned Accucard to close my account. The lady on the phone assured me that the account was closed although when I asked she said that it won't be confirmed in writing but that it will show on my credit records in due course. I can still log in to my online account and it still says I have my old credit limit available. I got an e-statement today which just showed the final payment to the card but had nothing to say the account was closed.
Has anyone else had this with Accucard? Is the account really closed? Do you know how long it took to show on the credit records?
(I want to try and get my credit limit on another card raised, to the amount that I used to have on the Accucard, but I don't expect the new card will be willing to do this unless they can see that the Accucard is closed...?)student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
I still have 1 Halifax and 2 MBNA cards 'accessable' online. They are closed according to my credit reports.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

i have just had the same with sainsbury's but this morning in the post I got a letter confirming a/c is closed. So I will keep hold of the letter if anything goes wrong I got my proof I clsoed it.
PS I always send letters to close and ask for written confirmation they have done it.0 -
with the MBNA ones until you choose to 'unlink' them from your ID they are viewable but closed. MBNA advised me to delete them from my accounts list and then as they were no longer linked to anything their system would delete the info in due course.0
