I was having a look on Amazon and there's so many different kinds. It's just for a normal PC. I've got 128MB and 64MB in at the minute.

Particularly note the number of sockets available for memory on your PC - quite possibly there will only be two, which could quite well mean you would have to throw away (=EBay) your 128 MB and 64 MB cards and replace them with (say) two 512 MB cards...0

If you are running XP then you need to have a minimum of 512MB RAB, and preferably 1GB.
The Crucial scan will tell you what your options are.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I'm pretty sure I only have 2 sockets.
Did that scan thing:
"Each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133 with a maximum of 256MB per slot".Doesn't sound good.

0.5 gig whilst not ideal would still be a HUGE increase on what you have now:idea:0

Did they quote you a price?
What OS are you running?
Sounds like my Win98SE machine!
If it's getting on in years there may be other issues if you want to do more than just upgrade the RAM.0 -
512MB should be fine for any OS up to and including XP....
can you give us your MOBO model, as it may be poss that you COULD fit 1GB if needed, the crucial scan isn't infallable....best checking the MOBO spec and seeing what the manufacturers say it'll support......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Xp would run far better with 1 gig than with 0.5 gig
But pc133 sounds old to me so id guess its windows 98?:idea:0 -
I'm running XP on an old computer (probably about 10 years old). How would I find my MOBO model (and what is it)?
Got quoted £25 per 256MB but I'd be buying from Amazon, got Amazon vouchers. The View Belongs To Everyone0 -
