Boots tried to rip me off

I bought a foot care gift pack from Boots in Birmingham City Centre.
On the rack it was priced up as £3.91 and I thought this was good value, as it contains 4 items which separately would cost more than that.
I took the gift pack downstairs to the lower floor with me as I wanted to buy a JML Pedegg.(£9.78). And went to the photo counter to pay for them.
When she scanned the 2 items, it came to £17.77 . I queried it and the assistant told me the foot care kit was £7.99, or course I didn't accept and told her it was priced up on the rack as £3.91. I made her go upstairs to check. She came back and said "it's been priced up wrong and should be £7.99, I've took the price off it now, but I'll still let you have it for £3.91".
Came back home and checked the item on the Boots website Here is the item, look at the price.

Not a case really of ripping you off, more a case of someone who is incompetant or afraid to admit they are wrong.0

There has obviously been a pricing error either on the till, shelf or website. As you did manage to purchase this item at £3.91 you haven't really been ripped off and it isn't as if the girl on the till was going to pocket the difference - she, from what you have said, didn't know about the error either. I suspect that Boots just haven't altered their tills to reflect the website and shelf price.0

Price changes are always happening, and sometimes these things happen.
The sa sold it to you at the lower price, and you got a good deal in the end:)0 -
MSE forums rule #1: Anyone claiming they have been ripped off probably has not.
Rule #2: Never attribute to conspiracy anything which can be blamed on incompetence.
Rulte #3: Don't buy !!!!!!.0 -
OP - do you really think Boots woke up this morning - stretched its corporate arms - and said "Lets rip off Abbafan1972 today. I know we have been in business for a hundred years or more, but lets go for it".
Come on. You had the item for the marked price - RIGHTLY SO - but still you seem to feel hard done by? Why not skip out of the store thinking you have had one up on Boots?0
