Lack of last minute deals & honeymoon advice

Hi,
We're getting married on the 13th June and we want to go on honeymoon/holiday but money is tight! So our original plan was to get married and then get online or down to the travel agents on the Monday and book a last minute hol for me, dp and our 2yr old daughter.
Dp was talking to a friend of his who works in a travel agent and she says that it's a bad idea and most of the travel agents haven't booked so many rooms and therefore there won't be the amount of last minute deals around. Is this right? Or she just trying to get us to book something??!
She's also said to dp that we could get 2 weeks all inclusive in the Caribbean for a similar price to Turkey??
Thanks!

Whats your budget Claire? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

I think AI would just generally be easier for us.
I've just been looking at Cape Verde, it's been recommended by a friend. They had a fabulous time and her snaps are gorgeous. Flight time not too bad either.
Where are you thinking of going?0 -
God I dont know where we will end up going !
I got an email about theseVirgin flights to New York but I dont think i want another city holiday so soon. ( we were in Vegas end of last year) I really wanted to go off the beatens and try Sierra Leone but the flights are 1k plus atm so thats out.
I want a reasonably short flight ( the last ones killed us) less than 8 hours but want somewhere really foreign & exotic and flight around the 500 quid mark. . Hmmmmm not having much luck at the mo! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Have a look at Cuba. A quick look on Thomas Cook and First Choice shows 2 weeks AI for the three of you coming out at just over your £2k budget. I'm sure if you look around you could get that price down a bit.0
