Why look elsewhere? did these look cheap and nasty
Very good point Broccoli, they were really nice to be fair and looked pretty tough.. I just don't always get to Primark that often so wondered if perhaps people ever got some bargains either on line or other stores.. Although if online you don't get to try them on!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I had some from Superdrug last month for 10p a pair! They won't be so good for very bright sunlight, but at that price it was hard to resist. Got 3 pairs, so if I lose or break some, I'm not worried. I had a pair from Primark for £2 a couple of years ago and they've been great.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
In reality I wouldn't trust something costing £1 to protect my most improtant sense.
Price is irrelevant in anything you buy in life. Just because it is cheap doesnt mean it is necessarily crapYou have to analyse the item, in this case the UV protection. You could buy a £400 pair of glasses from Harrods and they might be useless at protecting your eyes

As far as I'm aware, all sunglasses sold in the UK have to conform to safety standards. So feel free to buy from Primark or Harrods - either should be tested and safe.0

You should be looking for a label that says blocks 99%-100% of UV-A and UV-B
Good glasses will have the CE mark (which is only about manufacturing safety)AND the relevant British Standard BS EN mark-not just the CE0 -

Ditto :j ! They were on the clearance shelf but cleaned up very nicely (and they had the UV label).0 -
I wouldn't trust these sun glasses to protect my eyes, but if its just for fashion then thats your call.
I would say that you get what you pay for.
I have had numerouscheap sunglasses but last year bought a pair of Ray Ban and wouldn't ever go back0 -

Where are you getting that from? I've sold sunnies for 15years and never seen a pair with a british standards mark - and we sell ray ban, oakley etc - all the high quality stuff. Are you getting confused with safety glasses?
The CE marking is the only legal requirement.0 -
A friend bought some sunglasses from Primark with a £2 price tag and when she got to the counter, they were £1! You know they aren't going to be the best quality, but for that price, they are more of a fashion accessory.Survey/Review Earnings: You Gov: 1275 points, Ciao Reviews: £8.29, Ciao Surveys: £4.55, Valued Opinions: £6.50. I did get some from Primark, I think they are very good quality for the price. In the past I've got them from Next, M&S, H&M, Accessorise and they all only have one sticker on which is the UV one. I think that if you buy the branded ones you are paying for the brand name, i.e. like the difference between buying a H&M dress or a FCUK dress..
If anyone knows factually if this is incorrect would be good to hear for sure, but one of the ops who replied said they'd worked in this field for 15 years or so..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
