Owl monitor 45% lower than meter

As title, I have another thread running on my high usage but have just bought another owl monitor which does a running total and have just took 24 hour readings.
Owl 13.91 kwh
Meter 20.19 kwh
If you have an owl could you post your comparisons please.
Thanks
Bev

The accuracy of the Owl will be dependent on its sampling rate, if its only taking a current sample every minute or so then something like a kettle being boiled would be ignored. I guess its swings and roundabouts but I would not put much faith in what its giving you.
Have you tried checking each with a continuous load for an hour, like a 2 bar electric fire.

PS You have set the correct mains voltage, and don't have a separate feed for E7 storage heaters?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • My Efergy energy meter is very accurate, based on several months worth of comparing to the meter.

As the person above says, you should check that you don't have two or more separate circuits (i.e. E7) and so require more than one sensor.
  • What voltage do you have it set for?

    The default is 230v

    We dont have E7
It updates every 6 seconds and believe me, the kettle is not ignored.

    Hi
I have only had my owl monitor for two weeks and i am finding that the owl is recording about 1.5kwh more per day than my meter.
  • I have had an Owl for the last 2 months and I check its accuracy against the electricity meter every week at the same day and time (Sunday 11.00). My results show the Owl to be plus 2 units a week. (130 recorded on the meter, 132 recorded on the Owl). This gives an accuracy of 1.5%. Which I think is very good.

If you set your OWL to 220 Volts you will find that this error can be reduced.

UK mains supply is actually 240V.
  • My meter showed a lesser reading I had to move it closer to the sender unit then worked perfectly
