Getting hitched in Vegas!!!

Hi,

I will be getting married in Las Vegas. We are travelling in the last week of august and stay for 12 nights in the Flamingo Hotel. (12 nights inc. flights in the FLAMINGO GO! suite at approx £1600 for both of us). Has anyone stayed here? It would be great to know what to exprect!

....But thats about as far as our planning has gone! We want to get married as low-key, non-tacky as possible (no Elvis', Marylyn Monroe's etc etc), but at the same time want a nice day. Also not too expensive and quite convenient, but is not a drive-thru/10 min chapel etc etc. Can anyone recommend a hotel or something that will give us a respectable full wedding package......v small ceremony for us and 4 guests.......bit of food.....wedding clothing provided etc.

We decided to do this, not because of money, but because of past experiences of other peoples weddings: i.e spending a fortune on food not everyone likes/ venue pain in bum to get to/ family hotel costs. We also think that we would both be uncomfortable being the centre of everyones attention for a full day, hence decided to do this.

Thanks

We got married almost 3 years ago at the Little Chapel of the Flowers.
We hired a limo for 2 hours which collected us from our hotel, took us to the chapel, waited while we did the deed (which wasn't tacky and was broadcast free online to friends & family around the world to watch), and then took us and our guests to our reception venue.

We had a reception for 7 at the Canaletto Restaurant in the Venetian Hotel, we had a private dining room and fabulous personal service. It was affordable and special enough for a post-wedding meal.

If I could change one thing, I'd have hired a professional photographer to come along with us, and not relied on the chapel's photographer. She sucked, she did not get many nice shots of us, and she refused to allow us to get any shots with my bridesmaid or the other guests who came with us (there were only 5 guests total, including the bridesmaid). I've seen some great photo albums where a photographer has spent a couple of hours with you and you get great shots in front of all the fab casinos and scenery of The Strip, and under the "Welcome Sign" etc - I wish I had done that, it would have been a worthwhile expense, considering the rest of the wedding was so cheap!

The chapel provided flowers, I gave them specifics of what I wanted and sent them pictures in advance, I only had a small bunch, my BM had a single flower, and hubby also had just one in his lapel.

For clothing, I bought a fab dress on sale in Debenhams for £60, hubby wore his suit minus the jacket, and we did our own hair & makeup.

We had the BEST time, it was amazing, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!!

Email them all with your request, try some of the hotels off the strip, Red Rock springs to mind.

I can't imagine anything more tacky.

    Apart from the Casino carpets.

That is a very harsh comment - have you ever actually attended a wedding in las vegas? As someone who may consider getting married there one day its comments like that (often from people who have no experience of it) that can put a dampner on everything.

Good luck to the OP in arranging something fabulous - I am sure you will have a ball!

There are some lovely places in Vegas that are not tacky at all - have a look at the Vegas thread on this site. Though I am sure you will come across people with similar ignorant comments - ignore them and do it your way!

Looks great neilbond007! Can anyone else recommend somewhere that is quite tasteful, but on a budget?

We also got married at the Little Chapel of the Flowers and we wouldn't do anything different. We arranged it the day before and had the limo flowers and photos. We were happy with the photos and they were all ready for us the next day. I wasn't expensive and more importantly - there was no hassle or stress involved. It certainly wasn't tacky and I would reccomend it to anyone. Good luck and have a great time.

Sorry, I didn't mean getting married in LV, I meant getting married in a casino. I saw a few couples getting married in casino chapels and, really, it's no way to spend one of the most important days of your life.
