Mojopolo,
I think I will have to try Macau. How does the banquet work then ? Is it a set fee ? Do they choose the food or is it a set menu ? Thanks in advance.

I'm not quite sure how the banquet works as I usually just turn up and eat! But my other half says that you just ask for the banquet for however many people in your party. They then bring out a range of dishes for that group size.
From what I remember they serve both noodles and rice. For the dishes they have things like crispy duck, chicken skewers, prawns, squid etc and everyone takes a bit of whatever they like. I'm not into fish dishes but there are plenty of other dishes to chose from.
If you are out with a party of people it's a very easy way to order - and a very sociable way to eat. Also you get to try dishes that you might not normally order for a full meal.
I hope you enjoy it if you go.0 -
Thanks Mojopole.0

That's a pity. I drink wine so it has never been an issue.
Have you thought about going to one of the gastropubs - they tend to be cheaper than restaurants but not byo.
I had a look at Judes websites (its on the ormeau rd as well). They have an offer at the moment:
'Jude's Magnificent £7.50 Menu
Beat the credit crunch with our great promotions including the magnificent £7.50 menu with main courses and bottles of wine for £7.50.
Offer available Monday-Thursday 5 - 9pm and Friday and Saturday 5 - 7pm Tables of up to 15. Wine promotion is only available with food.'

I used to eat there regularly when it was the Mercury and only stopped when my son was born. With a deal like that I should really try it again!
Good luck0 -
The Kings Court (chinese) in Dundonald is great. I took 9 people there for my daughters birthday and the bill was £110. We all had mains and soft drinks and they let us bring our own birthday cake for dessert.
They allow you to bring your own booze and there is an off licence next door - handy!!0 -
