Is there any info I could print off online, because my school are saying it is only 1 week & I was sure it is 20

Ours is 10 days ie 2 weeks, but they do have issues depending on the child, things like Are they due to take exams, is their attendance otherwise good, hope you don't expect the teacher to be responsible for catching the child up with missed work, is your child already struggling at school and will 2 weeks in 1 go be detrimental to the childs performance. I don't think its your right to take your child out in school time i think you do have to compromise with the school best to see the head teacher nicely and apologetic, and not all guns blazing.
There is a thread on here posted in january about the same thing if you can find it, expect lots of replies this is a very debatable subject lol.0 -
drop in that during your trip there will be an "educational element "
( sight seeing, lourve , zoo, dolphins, medievil night... whatever!)
mention how important this is, just like it was in closing the school when it snowed, or when the kids just seem to watch videos in the ;ast week of term!Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
It is a mon-mon so it would be 6 days off, my children have 100% attendance, are not behind & are not sitting exams.
They have granted 5 days but have said I will be fined if they are not back for the 6th day.0 -
Parents no longer have a right to take their children out for 10 days, headteachers can use their discretion to grant up to 10 days a year.
This is from direct.gov.uk
Holidays during term time
You should not normally take your child on holiday in term time as it can be disruptive both to your child's education and to the school.
Holidays in term time can only be agreed by the headteacher or someone with appropriate authority. Schools can use their discretion to grant up to 10 days’ authorised absence in a school year if:- the parent the child normally lives with applies to the school in advance of the holiday
- there are special reasons for the holiday
Schools must judge each holiday request on a case by case basis. They can take into consideration:- the time of year for the proposed trip
- if it's near any exam dates
- your child's overall attendance pattern
- any holidays already taken in the school year
- the age and stage of education of your child
- your wishes
- the ability of your child to catch up the work that they have missed
- the reason why you are taking the time off during term time
Schools should not take into consideration:- availability of cheap holidays
- availability of desired accommodation
- poor weather experienced in school holiday periods
- overlap with the beginning or end of term

Penalty notice is £50 if paid within 28 days. (£50 per parent, per child)[/CENTER]Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
