Hardship Claim - Partners financial details required?

I made a charges claim of just under £1,000 to Natwest around 9th Jan 2009 under the FSA hardship rule. After sending off a financial statement and several lots of correspondence back and forth I received a call today from Natwest asking for details of my partners finances. Is this normal practice?

Yes, it's perfectly reasonable for the banks to ask about total household income to assess financial hardship.
