    Hello

This is nothing to do with the original topic sorry, but the amount you mentioned you are possibly going to end up spending on childcare per month(£1900) is more than our family of four net in the same period from all sources:rolleyes: and it just started me thinking and I felt I had to put something down:D . I was supposed to end up as some fantastically well paid career woman but it didn't quite work out that way. :rotfl:

Having had a go at letting other people look after my two children while I work on the basis that it costs me a fraction of a days wage to pay for their care and therefore it's worth it moneywise, I have concluded I would rather go without. Now I sort of wander through life each day with my kids, letting them basically dictate what goes on, taking things as they come, thinking about things. It turns out that I didn't really know a lot about myself or what I liked or what I thought was important before I did this. We are certainly never going to be rich this way but personally I'm going to have a cracking time in life that I would've totally missed out on otherwise.

I told you it was going to be unhelpful. ;)

LOL yes, that is quite an unhelpful post :rotfl: -

most women are aware of the pro's and con's of being a working mum... and the way other women judge them

I'd go for the same childcare provider for both of them, so either a childminder who has baby all day and older child before/after school and holidays or a nursery that does breakfast/after school pick ups/drop offs plus holiday club (couple of nurseries near me offer this 1 to age 8 the other to age 11) or a live in/live out nanny.

Which to go for will depend on your own circs, financial, what's available in your area and your working times.

I had no choice but to pack in work when I had eldest 9 years ago, limited childcare available, no financial help towards it and no right to request part-time work and my employer only employed f-time workers. So I packed in and found myself becoming more and more unemployable during this time as technology advanced that I had no experience of, aware of this I went back to college to get my qualifications back and am now about to finish and hunt for a job in the worst recession in memory! Wish I'd been able to keep working. Good luck with the baby.

    xx
