Have you been to Stoupa on the Greek Mainland?

Hi everyone,

We've been told that Stoupa on the Greek mainland is still quite unspoilt and might be good for a relaxing european spring holiday. Anyone been there, and if so what did you think? What about accommodation, any recommendations?

We might go for a couple of weeks in May. Would we be better getting a package or just book a flight and accommodation or just turn-up.

It's years since we've been to Greece, now I really don't want to go anywhere very developed - but neither do I want to stay in a grotty studio/hotel in the backstreets of nowhere. I want something comfortable, relaxing close to nice simple food and a clean beach.

Yep - it's all those things that you want.
And it also forms the basis of an excellent joke you can tell for years.

And it beats going to those three well known Greek Islands of Paros,Naxos and Horrendos !

Stoupa is perfect for what you want, if we want to book a crash out idyllic place that's where we go, although we don't book package hol's if we can help it, we much prefer to go independantly, but we do book a package to Stoupa, it's a long transfer through the mountains from Kalamata, I don't think you would have grotty accomodation there, we never have, we have been with Kosmar and always been satisfied, if you have been to Greece before then you know what to expect, there are some nice walks, down very pretty leafy lanes, St Nicholas is a nice fishing village that you can walk to, although there is a local bus a few times a day. The beaches are good, nice tavernas around the bay.

The weather in May should not be too hot .

    Enjoy :-)

go to stoupa. greece as you know and love it. town beach is not too great, but most people walk through the village to the next bay (1km or a bit less) and it is so beautiful. sandy safe beach, enclosed by rocks that are great for snorkelling. nice tavernas on the beach. go with Kosmar, cheapest i've found for greece, and a great company to deal with. knowlegable reps who are not "in your face."

    enjoy.

    xx

Can anyone suggest any accommodation that's good/to be avoided?
