Layover in Frankfurt

My husband and I have a 4 1/2 hr layover in Frankfurt (getting there at 9 am).
I was wondering if anyone knows how far the city is from the airport? Thought maybe we could go into town and have a nice meal or something and then head back to the airport.
I just think it's a bit boring to hang around the airport for so long.

The airport is 8 miles from teh city centre and you will be able to get trains and buses, however, Frankfurt is not the nicest of cities so I would look at something specific that you want to do there in advance rather than just turning up and wandering about0

It's about 20mins by (frequent) train. Easy to do and not too expensive. It's a nice enough city to spend a few hours in, especially if it's sunny. There's an excellent art gallery on the other side of the river if you're into art, and trying the local tipple (apfelwein) is a must...0

Thanks and yes we do like art so depending on what time we get into the city and how much time we have...might check out the art gallery.
Cheers

I was there 2 weeks ago. People say there's not much to do, I agree but I found the buzzing of the city quite nice.
You can just walk around the city. There is the art museum, European central bank and some good foods served there. Also, there is a place where you can have a coffee. Its like on the 8th floor, and you can get an awesome view of the city. Can't remember the name, I will dig through my luggage and see if I can find it for you.0
