Two of my children are having a party on Sunday for their birthday. Aged 1 and 2. We have just invited family and close friends so theres about 24 adults and 8/10 children the eldest being 10. We have set aside 4 hours to have an open house type party so hopefully not everyone comes together due to space.
Our budget is very very minimal as in we need to spend as little as poss. Any one got any great party ideas for food that will last the 4 hours and stay fresh but that we can stretch over all those people and a cake to share?
Im not the greatest chef either so have always bought prebaked things before  .
Was going to try a tuna pasta, cold potatoes?? Are they the sort of things I could get away with?

well some dips, like hoummus, bean pate, tuna pate with carrot, cucumber, pepper, batons to dip, and mini pittas.
cold potato salad, maybe mix in some fresh herbs, diced pepper for colour,
maybe a large chocolate brownie tray baked cake, will easily do 20-30 squares, kids love them and very cheap and easy to make£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:0 -
What do you already have in? Baking ingredients? Salad/chicken legs/cold meats? Ingredients for a quiche?0

ooo yes forgot about the slow cooker. Could do a chilli. Im just worried that its not going to taste that great for everyone hence why Ive not cooked much in past just basics. Normally just cook meat/fish pots and veg. Pasta and meats/veg.Just a mum trying to make things happen!0 -

Thanks think i will try that!Just a mum trying to make things happen!0 -
I made mini pizzas using a scone pastry and topped with various toppings including hawaiian, salami and mozzarella, ham and cheese and margarita - the kids loved the hawaiian pizzas!
I would go for items the kids can easily eat that are only a couple of mouthfuls - little cherry tomatoes, diced cheese, sandwiches cut into soldier fingers (or use a cutter shape but more waste), small sticks of celery, crisps, cocktail sausages, individual jellies, fairy cakes, chicken nuggets, chicken wings, chocolate crispy cakes.
I would say avoid nuts, cocktail sticks, anything too spicy. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
