Hi all, I need some advice as not sure what to do
I bought a toshiba laptop last week from my catologue.
On trying to use works word processor, some features will not work. It tells me some files may be corrupt and re-install works. (didnt come with a disk to re-install so not an option)
I rang toshiba yesterday and the bloke was lovely but said he would have to go through a process which is long and they only do as a last resort. ( i have to ring back today if i want to do it)
Now, should i do this process or should i be asking for a replacement from my catologue as there is obviously something wrong with the software. Are they obliged to send me a replacement? And can they leave me without a laptop will another comes in stock?
I need my laptop and cant afford to be without it.
Thanks in advance

most laptop nowadays, dont come with CD/DVD to restore them
BUT all come with a means to redo the system back to factory settings from the hidden area on your harddrive.
most laptop also come with a utilitie to create the restore CD/DVD.
As your toshiba is only a few weeks old, i would just do the restore option that the toshiba tech guy was to do, as their will be very little on your laptop at this time
(MAKE SURE YOU TAKE BACKUP OFF ALL DATA THAT YOU NEED FROM YOUR LAPTOP)
also, as it is only a 2 weeks old, you could call the catologue company up, and tell them it does not work, and you want to swap it for one that does.

A restore isnt that much hassel, as above just ensure you back up your documents to a Pin or burn to a CD / DVD.
Should only take 30 minutes to do.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I shall make some recovery disks up tonight, and see if i can do a restore. if you dont see me for a while, you know its all gone wrong lol :rotfl:0

Your contract is with the retailer that you bought it from not Toshiba however if Works is the only program that doesn't work and your happy with the rest you might consider getting rid of Works completely and installing open office http://www.openoffice.org/ Otherwise get on to the retailer or try the restore option"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Well im still here!! Back up disks now done and open office installed, works is now outta the picture **Hooray**
