I've been searching for Pet Insurance for my 6 month old chcolate lab, and have narrowed it down to 3 companies....
Whch one would you go for?
Thanks in advance!
- MORE THAN lifetime cover for each new/condition upto £7,000 @ £13.59 a month
- TESCO extra cover - covers the cost of treating an injury or illness up to £4,000 per eligiable condition has no time limit on claiming for £11.65 a month
- OR go with HEALTHY PETS who I have my Cavalier insured with, but has never had to claim and i've not been with them 12 months yet, so don't know if premiums will hike at renewal? that covers upto £3,000 for £10.59.
Whch one would you go for?
Thanks in advance!

Does healthy pets have discount for more than one pet?
I use Tesco myself. I have a Patterdale Terrier who is 6years. Never had to claim on it, and costs me £11pm.
Im quite happy with them to be honest. I think its just down to personal experience, and also if you have a breed that is prone to things (never had a Lab, so dont know).I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Petplan all the time - you wouldn't under insure yourself, your home, your health, your car - so why do it to your pet?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Yes Healthy Pets do discount for more than one pet, but i'm interested to see if the renewal for my Cavalier hikes after the 12 months. Has anyone else used Healthy Pets?0 -
I've my two Springers insured with Healthy Pets for the past year. Have just had the renewal arrive which has gone up from £13 odd to £23 odd per month for their Gold plan - £5000 cover . Quite an increase although I rather suspect that this is still quite good value as I have just started to look around for alternative quotes and they are much more expensive. Fortunately I've not had to make any claims so far so do not know what their claims service is like.0

If any one wants advice on the best policy to take for the cat or dog it is without doubt the Pet Plan policy. It is not the cheapest by a long way but is the best.
Their policy will continue covering your pet until it dies providing you keep renewing (Although their premiums will increase and so will the excess). Most of the cheaper companies will stop insuring your pet at 8 or 9 years and its after these that you normally start getting the big vet bills.
They do not exclude a condition once they have paid out on it, the cheaper policies will exclude cover for say cancer the renewal immediately after you claim. If your pet gets a condition that needs treatment for ever it will save you a fortune.
You normally pay the excess once a year for each condition not each time you go to the vet.
Their policy offers very wide cover
They do not exclude congenital conditions eg german shepherds with their hip problems (Some companies exclude these)
The vast majority of Vets recommend the Pet Plan policy....in addition if your a pet plan policy holder they will often wait for payment from Pet Plan rather than demand it there and then.
THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY COMPANY THAT OFFER THESE (I DO NOT WORK FOR PET PLAN)
Like I said pet plan are not the cheapest but if you need to claim for your pet on a regular basis they could actually save your thousands.
When buying pet insurance take the above into account, it could be that a cheaper policy suits your circumstance better but bear the above in mind. Also remeber that if you change Pet Insurer the new company will exclude claims for existing conditions.
Like I said I do not have any connection with Pet Plan but in my opinion their policy is by far and away the best if you can afford their premiums as they are expensive0
