Have 12 month warranties been replaced by 30 day approvals?

I recent contacted Kleeneze about a Microfibre Mop I purchased through their catalogue at the end of last year.
A few weeks later it started to collapse when extended to full length for cleaning use, so was therefore unfit for purpose. As this was Christmas time I waited til just recently to deal with it as I was left with no contact details etc.
I found them online and emailed them with the problem, the response I got back was this...
Thank you for your email
I can confirm that this item can no longer be returned for refund as you have had it longer that the 30 day approval period. We also do not issue refunds if purchase receipts / order forms cannot be provided as proof of purchase.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact the Service Centre on 0844 848 5000 or email service.centre@kleeneze.co.uk.
Kind Regards

Well am I miss informed or should there be a warranty involved here somewhere? A '30 day approval' surely is not meant for items not fit for purpose? I also did not get a receipt.
I would like to take issue with them further but would like knowledge on my side,
can anyone help?
thank!

Do a search of the "Sale of Goods Act" on here, it will answer your problem0

I think this is due to their poorly worded reply. Some companies offer return/refunds within a certain period - no questions asked.
However, on some of these sites (Amazon !) it can be quite difficult to fathom out what to do if you have a defective item to return outside of the "free" return period.
You don't need a receipt - "proof of purchase" is all that is required by Law.

Hiya,
I'm a Kleeneze distributor and if an item is faulty we have 84 days to take it back usually. Can you get a hold of the distributor who originally bought the item to you? They're the people who should take it back.
Also, your reciept is the blue copy of your order form.Success' of 2012:-Debts:Student Loans: £28,7580 -

Hi, no I can't get hold of them as they left no details with me, I have not received a book since so had to find Kleeneze online to contact them directly. I was never given any sort of receipt which is why I have such a problem now. The item is well within warranty and was clearly supplied to me faulty. What options do I have?0
