In my village, the LA houses were all mainly bought by tenants over 20 years ago and are now selling for quite a large sum when they come up. It is mainly 2 storey, 3 bed houses, with a half dozen bungalows originally intended for retired and less able bodied I believe. Only a handful of LA tenants now reside. At the moment there is a 2 bed bungalow there asking about £198,000.

  • Check out your neighbours too. Phone the local community police and check that there is no trouble around there. Do several drive pasts at different times. Look if the neighbouring houses are well kept and if their gardens are well kept. This is a good indicator of the inhabitants. Some estates are great, no problems and are largely owner occupied anyway, but others, and I have lived on one such estate, can make your life an absolute misery because you are sandwiched between anti social individuals.
