if you removed openoffice and microsoft works than you probably removed your word processing software.

do you still have 'Word' on your PC? sounds like Notepad will be opening your letter.

Try right clicking on the document you want to open and select 'open with...'. You will then get a list of programs. look for 'Wordpad' try that. should open it a bit better than notepad.

if that works try reinstalling either MS Works or OpenOffice again.

yes tried this and it works but still not happy with the format of the letter all just dont look right .....

i have a microsoft works cd but when i put cd in disk drive it say what do you want windows to do then gives a list of things like open folder to view file (using windows exploer ) print pictures or transfer phtos and copy pictures or slide show ......

    how do i install cd??
  • wordpad is a very basic wordprocessor so will not display everything correctly.

To reinstall Works, insert disc, go to my computer and right click on your disc drive, select 'autorun'. if that does not work select open folder in explorer and look for a file like 'setup.exe' 'works.exe' 'autosetup.exe'... something along those lines. double click it.
