Beware of buying Kwik fit car insurance on compare . com

Options
In december I bought my car insurance after using the compare sites from kwikfit. I had put all my details in and stated I only wanted to pay a £200 excess. the quote appeared on the screen and I called then. They asked me to quote my on screen referernce number and said that yes I could have the insurence, I payed and that was that.O n receiving my papers I notice a £400 excess on it. I phoned and they say thats what I agreed too. I said no, I put all my details onto the site and ask for a quote with only a £200 excess. I printed out the compare site page I had filled in with the quote clearly there. apparently even after putting that info in the compare site you still have to listen VERY closely to what your agreeing to buy, because that is only a guide to what you want to buy. NOT a happy lady.

Or read what you are agreeing to on the compare site. Usually you will have a volutary excess that you choose AND a compulsory excess that the company choose.
In the excess section you fill in there will usually be something like a '?' next to the section that you have just filled in saying something along the lines of 'click to see about excesses' That tells you what the compulsory excess is.

On our insurance documents they are added together so you know what the total is you pay in the event of a claim.
