Help! Npower Gas bill, dont understand kWh etc....

Hi,

We have just received our revised Gas bill since giving npower our meter reading.

The total used for period March 08 - Feb 09 is £481.89.

Is this average? there are 2 of us in our 2 bedroom house. We have Gas central heating and a Gas cooker.

Since last year we have been paying £28 per month. With other adjustments (which I dont understand?) our new account balance stands at £257.60. Does this mean we now have to pay £257.60 as we owe it, or do our DD simply increase for this year?

This is our 1st house and all this kWh business is alien!

In our 1st quarter (03/08 - 06/08) we used 5665 kWh
From 06/08 - 08/08 we used 748 kWh
From 08/08 - 02/09 we used 7525 kWh

is this about right???

Just waiting for my annual statement coming from Npower myself

I think they may ask you to pay the outstanding balance

Alternatively you could pay some of the outstanding balance and increase your monthly DD

Be proactive when you speak to them - customer is king

I am quite worried about my annual bill - I pay £72 per month for both Gas and Elect. - I fear a large bill when mine comes in and I am not in a position to pay that - I will offer to increase my direct debit and perhaps pay £50 towards the debit balance

Well, over the year, it looks fine. If your balance is £257.60CR, your account is in credit. If it just says balance £257.60, you owe them that. So your DD probably needs to increase by about £20 a month to avoid you going into debt next year.

Why do you fear the bill - why don't you read your meters and calculate the amount to be charged? That way, you'll know what's coming!
