Can he get redundancy???

Hi

Im just after a little bit of advice.
My better half is a supervisor in a factory. There are 4 people in his department, 2 supervisors and 2 general workers. He was told last week that their losing the supervisor roles and all 4 of them will be on the same pay with the same role.

He'll be signing a new contract for the same money as he's on now but will lose his supervisors title, which he isn't happy about, he's worked hard for years to get up to supervisor. He was off work ill for a month just before xmas and since returning they have tried to push him out of his role and move someone else up (someone whos best mates with the manager).

Would he be able to take redundancy because they have changed his contract and role? He would be happy to leave if the can get the redundancy.

If you need any more info before answering il be happy to give any.

Thanks
