Give Cheshire oaks a miss. It's an absolute pit with nothing at all worth buying.

Is the bowling alley in the city centre? Is it possible to walk to it?

not really, it's prob about 20 min walk on an out of town retail park (greyhound park)and I'm sure buses will go that way.

  • a brilliant restaurant to visit is Chez Jules-it's right in the city centre and they do amazing two course lunches for £8.50. You must try it!
Have a great time-I love Chester.

You can get to the zoo using Merseyrail trains from Chester station.

It's really not worth doing that, not from Chester. You have to walk to the station, then it's two mins on the train (to Bache, the nearest stop for the zoo), then you still have to get a connecting bus to the zoo. Far easier just to get on the bus in the city centre. The train/bus combination is great though for anyone going from Merseyside to the zoo - for the same price as ordinary entry to the zoo you get all transport connections included in the price.

I wouldn't say that! I'm not a big fan of shopping but it's one of the most popular and successful shopping areas in the north of England so it must be doing something right. It's at least worth a walk around, and there's plenty to occupy you in the neighbouring 'Coliseum' if you do get bored.

I was born and bred in Chester so I may not be the best guy to help.
Chester itself will be good if you look up at the buildings, Cheshire oaks is a shopping outlet and the colisseum has shops, restaurants, cinema, bowling etc, but it is Ellesmere Port not Chester.
In Chester the walls, the rows, are all worth seeing.
At night Chester can be a different place, not the nicest city to drink in.
Liverpool is a great night out, and a cheap train ride away.
    Hope to help.
  • We went on a ghost tour around the city - excellent, stop off at a few bars finish with a bite...... to eat.
