Making Offers - Different Agent - illegal or not?

I appreciate the ethical issues around this but is it illegal…

I basically saw a property on estate agent A’s website – tried to arrange a viewing but was only able to arrange this through agent B’s at the time I wanted. Now agent B charges 3% and agent A 1/2 % . I made an offer through B want was thinking about going higher through A since it will be worth 2.5% more the seller at no cost to me. Illegal or not?

Thanks

it will depend on what type on contract the vendor has with the ea's

if they are both on the market at the same asking price then i wouldn't worry, i can see where you are coming from but also if you make an offer through A they may see that you are trying to play them and it might not go down very well

ask your solicitor if you aren't sure or approach another ea for advice on the telephone you don't have to give a lot of details
Well we finally did it got a house not on a main road, next a railway line or any other werid and wonderful things that get on my nerves!!!

It depends on what contract has been signed by the vendor. If a sale is agreed via agent A, agent B may well be entitled to their commission as they have introduced you to the property with a viewing and entered into negotiations with you. If you go back to Agent A and offer thru them as well and a sale is agreed, they may also be entitled to their commission, so the vendor has to pay two sets of fees.
