Holiday Changes by tour operator

Booked Holiday last year and because of work commitments had to take a flight from Birmingham, received confirmation that flight return was delayed by 20mins and if not suitable would change at no extra cost....ok so i found alternative flight from Manchester that is available ( ive got to the point of them taking my credit card details on line) but after a few days of phone calls they say they can not make the changes as this is through the airline part of the business and my holiday was booked on line....i have a friend who works in a travel agency who tried to make the ammendment today but was told because its less than 8 weeks to travel the ammendments are not available( they made the changes not me remember albeit by 20 minutes) so any ideas on my rights?..please...also can i do a name change on one of the tickets at this late stage?

No its not the delay that bothers me, i was looking at using that as my bridge to change my flight to Manchester, i was even willing to pay a reasonable amount

Package........they did offer me a flight from Leeds but said they would have to start the booking process again so it added £1200 to the cost!!!

As its a package you can name change, the sooner the better its cheaper to do before the tickets are printed. As for the flight what alternative did they offer you if the 1st 1 wasnt suitable, in all honesty 20 mins is good they can change up to 12 hours and say like it or lump it with no alternative, doesn't make it right but they can.

Thanks, as said it wasnt the 20 mins that really mattered it was an excuse to change the flight to Manchester.....the letter informing me of the change did state that if it wasnt acceptable then changes would be free...I know im pushing it but why not if it makes life easier:D
