tmcd01 i am an unpaid carer for my nan, my car is only worth about 300-400 but at first the OR said id have to put in an offer to buy it as they said as i dont use it for work i cant keep it, but i found out today they have changed their minds on being an unpaid carer is still classed as a sort of job so you should be fine
eklynn they dont normally check the dvla to see if youve disposed of a car recently i think but they can if they want to and if they find out will not be to happy
dreamcatcher73 can you prove by a reciept of withdrawral transaction he bought the car. if you havent got proof then i think he can just arue the case he did buy it, but i dont know if anyone has been successful this way, but i dont think just having asthma will be a good enough reason to exempt but its worth a try but i would try digging for proof of purchase to be on the safe side

thanks headoutofsand, thought that... I think he will still have the receipt as it was only purchased a few months ago.
Hopefully I will get a sympathetic OR who will just let me keep it! Doubt it though, that's not the way my luck runs..
With regards to making an offer for the car, do they base this on the value you put down for the car or do they make their own judgement on what the value should be?
Car was purchased for £400, put down value of £300 on forms which I think is right for it's age condition etc, but will they accept that or look elsewhere for an value based on age and model?BSC No: 2450 -
Hi Lisa, I'm sure he will have the receipt, he's a bit anal like that lolBSC No: 2450

Thanks for the links, as my car is an N reg Parkers want a payment, can't find exact model on What car, but something similar seems to be coming out at about £500-600 not taking into account condition I guess..
If they wont let me keep it will probably be worth making an offer on it as it's so hard to find a cheap reliable car... Will have to cross that bridge when it comes to it...BSC No: 2450
