Replacement Vehicle Insurance....

Hi all

This is my first post with a query so please be gentle with me lol...

I'm picking up a new car on Monday :j and the finance guy at the dealership has asked if I would like to take out replacement vehicle insurance for 3 years (the length of my finance deal with them) for £399. I think the idea of the RVI sounds good but I think I might be able to get it somewhere else cheaper. I've had a quick look on google and I found somewhere that quoted about £170.

Has anyone got any experience with RVI and if so, do they know of a company that they can recommend?

Hi there

I don't know this company, so I typed "RVI" in to the FSA's register search engine. It came up with a company called "RVI Options Limited" based in Hampshire and that they are no longer authorised.

On that basis, I presume I have got the wrong company!!!

If you go to:

http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/home.do

You can put in the firm's FSA registration number and this will give you some more information on the firm. Not much, I admit!!

As it is, it's very difficult to help without knowing who the policy is with that you have been offered from the purchase company; if you can give some more detail, it may help.

Are you talking about cover to provide an alternative hire vehicle if you have a claim or Gap cover to pay the difference between what your Insurers pay you and whats left on the finance?
