Credit score of 896 and Halifax wont upgrade my account!

Sorry posted this on wrong thread before.....

I have a basic account with Halifax and fancied upgrading to the new one they are advertising with the £5 payment each month, however, having just applied they turned me down! I checked my credit score with Experian and they rate me at 896 - apparently this is a very good score! - What's with the Halifax? I earn an above average salary and run my account well.... anyone else had a similar problem and if I do vote with my feet which bank is the best?

To be honest those credit scores things are just a gimmick IMO.

As you send vote with your feet try another.

First Direct seem to be good.

Will give them a try, looks like a toss up between them and the Co-Op!

You got to be careful not having to many searches on your credit file.

I would personally try First Direct alot of people seem to say good things about them.

When I applied for this account, I ticked the 'no overdraft' box, but they have still done a full credit search on experian.

The funny thing is, once the account was credited with the £100 required to get the debit card sent out, it is showing a £100 guaranteed overdraft available.

I have no idea why they accepted me. They have refused to upgrade my account for years.

I'm not sure which bank account is best, but at the moment I prefer my Nationwide Flex account.
