Please Help

i dont know if this is in the right place but im desperate.
we have a rented property and we are in arrears aboy 600 pound
what happened was we supposed to have had a 4 week benefit run on for housing and council tax benefit when my husband started work.but a month later they told us we are not entitled to it.anyway we have financial problems and we couldnt afford to pay the arrears as my husband was sacked because he had to care for his daughter for 3 days who was taken into hospital.

our landlord is a housing association and ever since we moved inthis house we have been harrased by the 2 neihbours who are joined on to us.
the first one we got in touch with the landlord as he was banging at all hours and shouting outside at night.he got wind of this and came round banging on the door and he says if we report him again he will f*****g kick us all in even my step daughter.
we have to now put up with the nosie and shouting.
the other neighbour comes banging on the door at 2am every saturday ,shouting throught the letterbox.she keeps on about our cats.she says one of our cats came into there house through the window and ate theire chicken which was on the worktop.
and they say we are cruel to our cats as we let them out.they have even had RSPCA and other ppl come out to us and they say everything is ok.
but we still continue to suffer.we dont say anything bcuz the ppl here all stick together and if you upset one you upset em all.
thats one of the reasons we stopped paying rent our rent arrears off as we have asked for a move and they wont give us one.We have told them that we are having trouble from the neighbours but we said we dont want anymore trouble all we want is to move home.theyhave plenty of houses but they are allocating them to ppl who come from other countrys.my neighbours is 21 years old and hes got a 3 bedroom rented property and he lives on his own
we dont feel safe here at all.we sit in the house with the blinds closed and curtains shut.
we have now had an eviction notice.and im hoping we can sort this out but is there any way we can get out of this due to the fact that we have been going through all this.

hope you guys can give me some info
ps.we found out that the old tenant who lived here had similar probs

thanks guys

  • I'm really sorry to hear all about that, however I think the jem in all of that is that the previous tennant had issues along similar lines. I would advise talking to the council/housing association about this. If the property was bad for the previous tennant then why did they let it to you? I'd say this would be a good place to start when looking to get a move.

    Good luck

The most immediate problem is that you have an eviction notice. Is this for arrears? Is anything else apart from arrears mentioned? How many weeks arrears have you got?

This is serious and if it goes to court you may well have a possession order given against you, which means you could be evicted. If this happens you could end up with the council refusing to rehouse you on the grounds that you "made yourself intentionally homeless" by not paying your rent. Obviously this is the worse scenario and may never happen BUT I'd suggest going immediately to your CAB who should be able to liaise with the Hsing Assoc, advise you about possession proceedings and perhaps arrange for someone to accompany you to the county court if it comes to that.

They should also be able to help with any benefit and debt problems.
