"instant overdraft request fee"

i have just recieved abbey bank statement and received charges
"instant overdraft request fee paid item direct debit to vodaphone" £35
"instant overdraft request fee unpaid direct debit" vodaphone £35
unauthorised overdraft/ instant overdraft monthly fee £25
total £95 for same direct debit which was not paid
I have googled and found that these charges may not be able to be reclaimed as these fees resulted from a change in abbeys t and c's
making them now not punitive charges but service fees.
could anybody enlighten me as to wether this is the case

Phone the abbey & try and appeal to their nicer side ( a joke i know, but sweet talk does work, honest!!) Say that you had no idea that one direct debit would result in £95 charges. Explain that you cant afford the charge as it( may possibly???) be larger than the original vodaphone bill itself.
Its always worth a friendly chat with a customer care rep in my opinion. Good luck0 -
thnks for your response but tried that which is now why i am going down road of reclaiming along with anything else i can claim over last six years as abbey dont actually possess a nice side, not even a reasonable one0

I wouldnt normally have bothered on the basis that if i mess up i get penalised. fair enough. but to pay it then claim it back and charge me for both actions is no more than revenue collecting service and when i phoned response was that they did because they can.0
