BEWARE
I recently converted some clubcard vouchers into deals to redeeem with Avis car Hire for a car for 2 weeks whilst on holiday. I looked on their website (Avis) and was quoted £343. I then received the bumpf back for tesco and rang avis to book. The price then jumped to £483, £140 more I questioned this and was told that the original price £343 was a pre pay rate. My holiday is at the end of May 06.The paperwork is all been processed and going through. Is this pre paid ???. Fired off a letter of complaint 24 Jan to both Tesco & Avis. How could they justify a 41% price hype??etc etc. Surprise surprise they both have not even acknowledged my letters let alone replied!!
caught out once. never again!

Avis do have a prepay rate but it not 41%, the difference in my prepay and pay on the day was about a tenner but then I didn't pay with vouchers!I haven't got one!0

Yes, I recently hired a car in Italy with Avis using my clubcard deals. However, one I'd paid the extra in cash for another driver, child seat, excess waiver etc (all + tax) I actually ended up paying out almost as much as the original price quoted by Holiday Autos which includes all the extras in the price! (This is of course in addition to the clubcard points that I'd already paid with!!) Never again.
In fact I used to be an avid collector/spender of clubcard points. It now seems to me however that with the holiday and travel deals it's almost impossible to get a worthwhile deal. The increasing restrictions and exemptions applied when using vouchers mean that most times you're better off simply looking out for the normal offers, or on-line prices and saving your points for 'MOTing' the car!0 -
Is the Eurostar deal still good, or has that one gone off the boil?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
