    Sorr, i ment to say

"Do need i bother contacting Alexander James, the solicitor?"

In the hope that they can tell me what period i have elgidly not paid the bills for? I know it cant be me either way, because i and my flatmates paid the water bills regularey while i was there, and £400 would equate to 2 years of unpaid bills which certainly cannot be the case.

No - I suggest that you take this letter to Citizens' Advice Beurea BEFORE you contact MH or anyone else. Take CAB's advice - theyve been there a thousand times before.

  • Im going to see the CAB today

But i did contact Alexender James, and they said that the water account at the address is still in my name now....even tho i moved out in Jul 2003. They said they will call off Mackenzie Hall and have given me 14 days to prove the date that i move out of the property. Only one problem! i dont think i have anyway of proving it, i dont have my tennancy agreement, i dont have any old bills, and i cant reach the Landlord. what do i do?

How did you get on with CAB?

The CAB where friendly but they didnt help me progress really, they just said try together as much info as possible that proves i was living elsewhere, which iv already been doing.

I can prove where i have been living last year or so, as i still have my tennancy agreement for my current house.

And i can get a copy of tennany agreement for where i was living for nov 2003 onwards, but i dont think i should have pay the £15 to get this copy.

But i have nothing that legally proves my exact move out date or where i was leaving immediatly afterwards in jul 2003. My landlord at the time is not contactable. The best i can do is a letter from the estate agent who found the tennants who moved in after me, and a closing elecrity bill in my flatmates name, various item such as my car insurance at the time, a letter from my employer.....Northumbrian Water \ Alexander James claim this is not enough evidence as these are not legal documents.....but surly they are trying their luck, there case wouldnt stand up in court?

I could probs get afew more bits of evidence, but i feel like, why should i have to prove i shouldnt have to pay for something i havent used, they should prove my guilt?

I was thinking of just sending a letter with photo copies of the above, and saying if this is not enough i am willing to go to court. Is this wise?

I know i can get lots and lots of evidence that idicates i was living else where even if none of it was legal, and have many people will to vouch for me. Surly once they did some of there own investigation they would dsicover its not worth their while.

Fair enough i should have informed them i left the property, but surly they could have used a little common sence and have not left the account unpaid for 3 years and still kept supply water water to the address.

My problem is I HAVEN'T had a letter from them. Here is why.

many years ago my wife hired a washer fromRadio Rentals!!!! Don't ask!!! eventually we were able to buy a new one, although we had had some financial probs in the intervening years. the account had been in arears by up to two months but whenthe ship came in we paid it up as best we understood. However, BoxClever as they now were were in a bit of a muddle themselves and failed several times to eitherexplain their billing or collect the off-hired machine, lost a payment (copy cheque supplied) and failed on several occasions to respond to written - faxed - messages detailing their mistakes.
Next, heard from MIL Collections Ltd of Truro who claimed they'd been instructed on 31st march 2008 by BoxClever, who have since told me that is untrue - they have sold the debt but don't know who to!!!!!!!!! but the nice lady said she'd speak to MMMMMackenzie Hall !!!!!!!!! who phoned me yesterday to tell me to stop bothering BoxClever!! I pointed out to her I'm not in the habit of obeying insructions from anyone who isn't an Officer of the Crown or pays me a lot of wages. She also said the debt had probably come to them from First Credit. What a collection of nice people.
Today I telehoned MIL Collections to put them right on a few things but the guy insisted on speaking to my very nervous wife and he refused to listen without authority so I told him to make love to himself.
Annyone wants to fax them, number is 0845 362 0091 address is Palace Building, Quay St, Truro.
I need this put to bed soon, which is why I'm chasing them. My wife is a very nervous person with high blood pressure and my adult son still lives with us, has mental health issues and suffers badly from Phobic Cnxiety Syndrome, depression and Bipolar Affected Disorder so I need to go after thes scumbags, wait and see is no option.
I don't feel I need any help at present, as a contractor I know how to make a claim stand up, and I've an inch-thich six-year-old file. Don't owe the money and the claim is statute-barred anyway but I need to know who it was sold to as debt by BoxClever.
  • I also just got one fo these letters saying, contact us on "a personal matter" I'm assuming they are trying to prove where I live so they can tell me I owe lots of money. I am sure i dont owe any money as i have never owned a credit card and have always paid my bills and always inform utility companies when i move out.

Did the decision to ignore the letter turn out ok in the end?

My husband has just had a letter through from Mckenzie Hall saying its of a personal matter. As he is in the army, I rang to see what it was about.
I was greeted by a rude little madam who wouldn't tell me anything apart from I had to pay up - when I asked what for, she wouldnt say apart from the debt was from march 22nd this year (2011)! She wouldnt tell me anything apart from trying to get me to part with money, so I said she was rude and hung up.
She persisted and call me back, calling me all the names and trying to bully so I told her if she called again I would contact the authorities.

My husband has no debt, his record is clean, we have checked - so I have no clue what this so called debt is. I have contacted Cit Advice. Can someone please help as we have just lost his mother and really dont need this harrasment.

    Many thanks
