  • It def works at some independent cinema's..I have used it at the Little Theater (a picture house) in Bath without issues.

As to the code...normally I just read it out and they never look, but def safer to have it forwarded to your phone rather then write it on paper as occasionally the cashier takes it and reads it off themself.
    :hello: TTC since 11/09
  • Picturehouses definitely participate - orange wednesdays both at the one in york and in oxford phoenix

In case anyone reading this (like me) isn't on Orange, I just checked out the Orange website and found they are currently giving away free Pay-as-you-go SIM cards - using this URL: https://www.orange.co.uk/freesimpack
  • Will definately try my local picturehouse- cheers for that, wish I'd known before!

    I have done reading too!

  • The manual from orange tells the cashier to only give the ticket out if the customer shows the code on their phone. To be honest I don't really care about seeing a phone (you get cross eyed looking at all the different phone screens all day long) and just ask for the code to be read out to me. If the code comes back as valid on the little box thing that orange gave us thats all I really care about (so that my orange totals balance out). If the cashier refuses to issue a free ticket without seeing a phone I would tell them that the battery died on the phone and that you wrote it down just before it switched off.
  • That seems like good advice jammie. You work at a cinema? I think that would be a fun job- though those enormous mega cinemas stuck in a car park would be a bit miserable.
Even when the sims are £1 they give you £1 credit so its free anyway. We have 2 orange sims- so 4 can go! (And to take advantage of the free evening calls when necesary).
  • The terms and conditions on the orange website state that you must spend a minimum of £5 per month on calls to get the code. Is this true?

We tried to get a code on our PAYG Orange Sim Card last week, but it still hasn't arrived - mind you, the balance went down by 35p, which I believe is the "new" cost of getting a text ticket. As yet, I haven't spent £5 per month on calls, so maybe this is the end of the road for Orange Wednesdays unless you spend lots on calls.
