Advise - Trying to help my 2 sons in a mess

Hi I'm trying to help my two sons reclaim bank charges.
Can anyone advise are the banks likely to pay at this stage. both have been charged by Lloyds on several occasions over £250 penalty for going just a few (£6 - £10) over their agreed limits during the last 12 months. Both lads are very early 20's so can only go back to 18th birthdays. They don't tell me much about these things and I've only just found all this out.
They are both now in vicious circles where as they have been charged huge penalties that this had adversely affected their personal cash flow pushing them further in to debt
I do'nt need assistance with the reclaim process I can do/undertsand this fully, my query is are our chances good of a payout.
Any comments would be very gratefully received
