Nr together mortgage ppi ??

Options
Hi,

A few years ago i had a together mortgage with a 25% unsecured loan and like many others was paying one figure for both parts of the agreement.
I paid off this mortgage when i remortgaged 2 years ago including the unsecured part but recently i have been getting an increased amount of phonecalls from companies wanting to claim back ppi from my northern rock loan. All or most of these companies want a deposit to start precedings which iam obviously not going to handover but they got me thinking, Was the unsecured part of the loan sold to me with ppi without my knowledge?

I have checked through all the loan agreements etc and cannot find anything to suggest that i was paying a ppi on the unsecured but i find it hard to believe that NR would lend such a substantial sum without some sort of insurance. Also where have these compaies got the information that iam due some return from NR ( to the point of saying "we only deal with customers with a claim of more than £1000" no win no fee ).

Any ideas, or Has anyone claimed for ppi paid on a unsecured loan as part of the together mortgage deals.

Thanks

Neil

    Hi Neil

I would not personally go with these companies, as you know you can do this all free, maybe with just a cost of a stamp.
I would never pay upfront to these companies.

If you've no paperwork for this, such as your agreement, you can write to the company to request for a copy, they should supply this within 12 days of request, but enclose £1 postal order of cheque payment for this.

If you wanted more paperwork, you could request a Subject Access Request (SAR), you will find the template letter for this on here, they have 40 days to comply and must supply everything they have on you going back as far as 6 years, post by recorded delivery.
This may be useful for your case if required.

Hope this is of some help to you but if you need any help, please post up again, good luck.;)

  • Thanks for your reply,

I guess i wasnt too clear, I have all the relevent paperwork regarding this unsecured loan and everything for the together mortgage but what i meant was there is nothing in the paperwork to suggest i was paying a ppi.

Hence my question how does this re-claim company believe it has a case.

I am fairly up-to-date with the re-claim process as i successfully claimed back all of my bank charges from barclays using the templates and am willing to have another go but this time with NR but i cannot claim if i didnt have ppi in the first place.

I will not be paying another company to do what is a very simple process but cannot understand what they think they can claim?

    Hope this explains it better

    Thanks

    Neil
  • A company told me the same thing. I wasnt aware of having a ppi. Anyone know if they added them to the mortgages or secured loans without telling you?

Secured loans and first charge mortgages are different things. So, it would be wrong to compare them the same way.

For mortgages, if you bought from NR, then they did not add single premium MPPI to them. So, its impossible for you to have them without knowing. The monthly direct debit from your current account would be the big giveaway along with the policy document and cancellation rights you would be sent with MPPI.
