Hi I am so glad this thread has been put on here because I am soo stuck with this problem! I bought a new hard drive at a computer fair a few weeks back got it home but when it was put into my pc it burnt out! I had checked with the vendor that it was compatable etc so could not understannd why? so I contacted consumers direct for advice they told me to write to the ( sorry I had called them and got abused and told TOUGH LUCK) company requesting a replacement or refund as it was a faulty item and not damaged by physical damage! I did so got a email back 14 days later which i have copied and pasted to the bottom, I rang consumers back who basically told me there is nothing more they can help me with! I don't know what to do I did as I was under the impression I was in the right and I really can't afford to lose the fifty pounds it cost me so please can someone help?????
Thanks Sandee
Dear Mrs S M Tieman :
Following your letter dated 02.02.09 The hard drive is physically damaged, which eventually void the warranty with us and with manufacturer. We are sure the trading standards know about this. If you contact the manufacturer, they will blame you for the damage even if it was factory fault originally. This is something which can’t be proved or disproved. We tried to contact the trading standards but they refused to talk to us using your reference number (for privacy reasons). We would like to sort out this problem as soon as possible; we would like you to get them to contact us on 020 8964 8172 and talk to the manager. After we talk to trading standard we will get back to you.
Yours faithfully
Thanks Sandee
